Recycling Center Breaks Ground

Ground was broken today on the Green Tech Transfer and Recycling facility. An old Studebaker building was torn down and recycled to make room for the new indoor sorting and processing center. It is located at the corner of Ewing and Franklin, on the city's south side. Once completed it will cover 33 acres and cost 3.5 million dollars. Planners say after more than two years of waiting for permits they are ready to get the ball rolling.

"We've had plenty of time to think about how we're going to build it that's for sure. And were ready to go. There are alot of people working on the site now, utilities are in place and well be pouring half a million dollars worth of concrete for the first phase, one of three phases here yet this month," said Mike Morris, of Green Tech Recycling

Leaders hope to have the Green Tech Park open to the public by the end of the year.
