Green Tech Recycling currently has been working with Purdue University and its “Our Town Program” to bring curriculum to Riley High School in the identification and understanding of the impact of Brown fields in our community. Green Tech has also worked with German Exchange students who came to the US on a grant to study Brown fields along with Riley High School. Green Tech helped sponsor Riley students to then travel to Germany for the Program in the summer of 2008. This is ongoing and has involved participation and instruction in sampling environmental test wells and the study of Phase I and Phase II Environmental reports. Students are given an idea of what makes up a Brownfield, how to address the environmental issues regarding forms of cleanup and viable reuse of materials and property.
Mother Earth/Green Tech office building is used for study and also is the site for Rum Village Neighborhood Association monthly meetings bringing the community together along with representatives of local law enforcement and economic development. Green Tech Recycling also sponsors Rum Village Tire Recycling Day.
